Why did you create a journal for it? =P

I mean, I get the whole 'coming very soon' thing but if you're going to post the game like 4 hours after creating the journal..

also neither goshi nor exo have any idea what they're talking about, go play ludesia or symphonic rain or harvest december or textbook of evil or ever17 or remember11 or tsui no kokuin or lost colors or higurashi no naku koro ni or umineko no naku koro ni or true remembrance or planetarian or i/o or 12riven or never7 or anos6 or something. in fact, go play all of those, then you can come back and continue talking with your quasi-authoritative attitude on VNs

Hey, no fair. I'm not making fun of VNs, I'm making fun of your attraction to naked children.

But your timing happened to be bad enough to get you lumped into the same boat as Goshi. The whole 'attraction' thing raises an interesting point - do you only play games / read books/VNs etc. because you're attracted to the characters? Do you play FF7 because you're attracted to Cloud? I think your justification is a bit off.

Basically, what you're trying to say is that I only play VNs because I'm attracted to 'naked facsimiles of children'. Couldn't I fulfill that attraction far more efficiently through other means?
1) If you're saying that you only play games / read books / watch movies / consume any form of media because you're sexually attracted to the characters within it, you're also making that statement about yourself and everything you read/watch/play.

2) If you're saying that VNs, in particular, are only worth playing/reading/whatever if you're attracted to the characters (because, you know, you get to have sex with the characters!), then you're still making fun of VNs, and you need to follow my instructions and play some more games (Clannad, Planetarian, narcissu, true remembrance, chapter 1 of Higurashi, chapters 1-3 of Umineko are all available in english) to widen your perspectives before you comment on the topic.

After all, if I just wanted the pics, I could download CG sets or something. =P

Remember those articles on how smarter people were simply more able to come up with excuses to justify their beliefs and behavior?

I would challenge that. I'm pretty much certain Exo's a lot smarter than me, and he's not doing very well here!

(notice how I'm not actually justifying anything - I'm simply challenging Exophase's assertions. I don't have any need to justify my beliefs and behaviour)

Other means like what? It seems like a lot of them range from "illegal and risky" to "illegal and VERY risky."

No, I wasn't ever saying that. I was saying that you personally prefer VNs depicting naked children (who aren't actually children! But look like them...), of course I didn't literally mean that but I was jabbing you for liking them in the first place ;p

But would that necessarily be as fulfilling in terms of "attraction"? I imagine people tend to prefer porn with a little bit more context than that. I'm sure the "text" part of things helps establish how much you're into the depictions of (facsimiles of) naked children.

Lancer, if Exophase just made a tongue-in-cheek comment about visual novels, and thereafter a post about how he finds most of the reasons to play them "illegal and risky", does it really make sense to tell him to play a dozen of them? I mean, assuming they're eroge, that is.

No, I said other ways of viewing naked children are illegal and risky, not VNs :\

Well, my reply was tongue-in-cheek anyway. And I'm not really wasting very much time - I'd probably otherwise just spend it browsing the web or watching the Devils Devel Concept opening video for the hundredth time. I'm either in a working mood or I'm not, and in this case I wasn't. This is fun too, so why not spend a little bit of time doing it?

Other means like what? It seems like a lot of them range from "illegal and risky" to "illegal and VERY risky."

I dunno, what about playing VNs that actually have facsimiles of naked children in them? Like this one (seriously don't go here if you're at work, though, you'll get fired and probably arrested).

Quote

Nope, because my reply was also partly to Goshi. They're all nonero.

Why would you think it applies to me, then? =P

But the characters in question don't actually act like children in the game, so it sort of shatters the 'image', doesn't it?

Dear God Lancer, you don't stop being a child at.. whatever age you'd label those as (I don't know, 5?)

I don't know, I could see "attracted to children who act like teenagers or adults" to be a pretty viable fetish. Wouldn't change what I said though!

You play VNs where there are people who "aren't" children but look like them (and they get naked). You can't escape it~

The problem is that a lot of manga/anime/vn artists have art styles that makes characters sort of look younger than they do (e.g. in Lucky Star), but.. typically in terms of proportions (size, build etc. compared to other characters in the same setting) they aren't too far off the age they are typically considered to be. Depends, though.

So then the question becomes, are the artists doing this arbitrarily or because people actually like their eroge characters to look prepubescent? I don't think having all the characters look that way really changes anything.

Crap like Lucky Star just looks easier to draw. I think in anime that kind of style isn't really nearly as typical though.

I'm not sure it's that 'arbitrary' - just a mark of a particular artist's style. ☆GAYAROU, an artist that often works with Tonoike Daisuke, draws characters that, at first glance, certainly look quite young:

but you really can basically see that the characters all have the 'form' you'd expect for the kind of character they are supposed to be - it's just the way he draws them

I wonder what the results would be if you compared the facial ratios of that art style to the facial ratios of real adults, then teenagers, then children. Larger eyes as compared to the rest of the face, rounded features, chubbyish cheeks...

Except 'larger eyes as compared to the rest of the face', 'rounded features' etc. are some of the hallmarks of typical anime/manga/vn art =P

You've posted several images before of characters that look much younger than that. Usually with "she's 18" appended. Yes, the typical art style of animanga might make people (women in particular) look a little younger in general, but I'm talking about a trend that goes way beyond that.

It was basically how I was once under the illusion that I was in love with a 16-year-old autistic girl, over the internet. The fact that it happened two years ago doesn't change the fact that it was still completely pathetic, especially since that was the first and probably only time I will ever have feelings like that for anyone.

Seriously though, guys. Play through "Planetarium", great game.

Then play through "Bible Black". It's even better.

also neither goshi nor exo have any idea what they're talking about

Actually yeah, my comment was a bit uncalled for, since Narcissu and Clannad are the only non-h ones I've actually played ==;

"All that"? Care to explain what you're talking about?

Preferably frame it in terms of stuff I actually like, because otherwise I won't be able to relate at all.

(to help you out, the sorts of things I typically play are 'dark' eroges, both the violence/gore variety (Mushi-tsukai, Gun-katana, Extravaganza, Gore Screaming Show etc.) and the 'depressing'/psychological variety (Sayonara wo Oshiete, Swan Song, Yukiuta, Mugen Kairou, Yumemishi, Doko he iku no, ano hi etc.)

These games are generally not known for being 'moe shit'. The thing is that I do broadcast the sorts of things I'm into quite regularly, so I'm not exactly sure why you're specifically targeting me here!

<Malwyn> Yes, yes. Don't worry I'd rather masturbate with broken glass than ask you for help again. :(
