Everyone passed their finals with flying colors, except YOU, and YOU, and YOU, and unfortunately I seem to have transposed half the answer keys between each other at random

That said, the teams that are worth caring about of this last Day of Zeux arrrreeeee:

in THIRD PLACE: The absolutely indispensable MAD TRACKERS, with CJA and Kom, and their game Monroe Monroe: Attorney at Law, which sets new standards for blatant fanboyism, theme denial, and footstep sounds

in SECOND PLACE: Logicow game

and, in FIRST PLACE, the most important place, the cheery, good-natured fellows of Team Target Ball-- KKairos, GentryXaties, and WildWeasel, with their cheery and good-natured exercise in inspired boredom, Operation: Break Into The Building. I could in all honesty not have asked for friendlier people to win.

The final scores, as lovingly arranged by Wervyn, summarized:
1105 points 59446	Team Target Ball (KKairos, WildWeasel, GentryXaties)	Operation: Break Into the Building	Bureaucracy
970 points 76722	Logicow	(untitled)	Summer 2008 DsDoZ and the End of the World
844 points 84459	The Mad Trackers (CJA, Kom)	Monroe Monroe: Attorney at Law	Bureaucracy
810 points 36825	Mr_Alert	DoZing Off	Summer 2008 DsDoZ and the End of the World
769 points 38887	Team Dreamboat (Revvy, ShloobeR, Bolan)	The Somewhat Dull Adventures of Gun Guy	Summer 2008 DsDoZ and the End of the World
530 points 61892	MZXCon 2008 (Insidious, paul, Apage43)	The Bureau	Bureaucracy
439 points 99348	私たちは受賞者 (SmartRutter, Genrok)	Nuclear Doom	Summer 2008 DsDoZ and the End of the World
414 points 51921	Triumverate of Villains That Have to Poop (Spectere, Rowan, Old-Sckool)	Hellquest	Summer 2008 DsDoZ and the End of the World
107 points 91210	commodorejohn	Odell Mermaid and the End of the World During the Summer 2008 DoZ!	Summer 2008 DsDoZ and the End of the World
0 points 90556	asiekierka	A ZZT for the DoZ?	Summer 2008 DsDoZ and the End of the World
YOU LOSE ASIEKIERKA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

His Excel spreadsheet with the full breakdown and comments included is here: http://doz.digitalmzx.com/Summer2008/judgi...2008_Scores.xls

wow, for being the person that probably took the least time making a game, (Besides maybe asiekierka's zzt entry), i actually didn't come in last. XD

Also, ahaha i beat the truimvirate of villains that have to poop. :p

Maybe next time i'll hopefully not have something to get in the way from me competing next doz. I made and submitted that game pretty quick.

Even if it was a crappy entry, at least i managed to submit SOMETHING for once. -_-

I'd like to extend my congratulations to the winners - wait wait WHAT?! We won? My congratulatory speech that I worked so hard on has all been for naught... =P

I'd like to extend all my congratulations to the los---wait what? I didn't get a SINGLE point? Couldn't anyone at least COMMENT my game? Now that's just (phunnt/sarc/coolt)astic! OH NO!

Oh, and smartrutter: I took 6-7 hours.

It certainly helps that, by the contest rules, you didn't technically submit anything.

Hooray for no one commenting on asiekierka's game. He set his expectations low and still got nothing. *high fives*

Hooray for SmartRutter's lousy effortless game that scrapes by the bare minimum, congratulations on beating a team that probably did at least try to do an alright game. Let me know if Malwyn is judging again so I can submit a single board game with simple ZZT graphics that instructs you to go to the other side of the board to win, I'm sure that'll manage to beat a few of those blasted unfinished games that tried too hard. With their darn-fangled vlayers.

Hooray for asiekierka AND commodorejohn for not being disqualified, or at least escaping any indication of this. I suppose with both of you at the bottom it's a bit moot, although you're still ranked between each other. I wonder if it'd be a bad idea to rank the disqualified entries next time. Yeah, that'd probably be a bad idea.

Oh, and uh, hooray for KKairos, weasel, and elder weasel for winning the DoZ.

Exo, i'm STILL going to make a C64 game for the next DoZ. Or a ZX Spectrum one.
Huh.

Thank you, Asie, for making me not come in last.

Horray for no grace period penalty!

This is THE worst scoring DoZ game I've ever submitted by far, and my worst participation in a DoZ ever.
<Nadir> mzxers don't make GAMES, usually
<phthalocyanine> they make experiences.
<Nadir> demos, more like
<Nadir> a glimpse into what could have been if mzx wasn't such a bore to work with
<Nadir> actually, i'm being unfair
<Nadir> i would have made mzx games if it was capable of running on more than 20 computers worldwide in 1998
<Nadir> >:D

<%Alice> functor
<%nooodl> i hear C++ has a thing called functors and they're completely different from Haskell functors...
<rorirover> the result is the most horrid thing in C++, it's basically black magic and it transforms any code you're writing into some eldritch monstrosity

I got second place by making the same game all over again, with half the available time.

Which brings me to my next point:
Why are there so many games that don't play from start to finish? It's not that hard is it?

Of course it's hard. You wouldn't understand because you always do a game that at best combines a few elements from games you've already done during previous DoZ's or something you've done on your own. Whereas other teams will try something new to them and go all out, and sometimes there just isn't enough time to make it all happen.
