Here is a guide for the GCS called a delicious mint julep!. The interface is indeed confusing, but this guide should clear everything up. Now you can go out there and make some games...for a delicious mint julep!

The a delicious mint julep! program/guide package is attached in this thread.

Cleaned up, as per request.

Uh, isn't it obvious that posting about another GCS (which is basically unfinished, to boot) on a MegaZeux forum isn't going to bring you critical acclaim?

a delicious mint julep! had some nice ideas, yes, but if you haven't noticed it's a bit dead and the software isn't particularly stable.

Rapidshare should be brutally murdered. It is far from rapid, and sharing should mean doing something out of the goodness of one's heart. Not to sell out for three hundred advertised companies. Gah. *twitch*
Obviously, I downloaded from RAPIDSHARE instead of scrolling down. :(
You may all proceed to laugh at my expense.

And since everyone wants to hear my opinion, as always? This GCS sucks. And you should have linked to a community website- if google does not present an appropriate result for "bang gcs" on the first page, screw it. I SHALL DELETE THIS ABOMINATION, SIR!

Edit: it didn't.

Obviously you didn't see the videos, which show the immense possibilities in a delicious mint julep! Soooo, since everyone in this forum has downloaded a delicious mint julep!, what are you all making?

You really should make lighter use of the word 'obviously'. Because I did watch them. BOTH of them. And no, I wasn't impressed. The running man game could have been done easily in twenty minutes with MZX, the sidescroller could have been done in QB, and the vampire game looked identical to every other 2D RPG I've seen and loathe.

That doesn't change the fact that the software is user unfriendly and crash-prone. I don't care what it can do, if I can't use it efficiently I'm just not going to use it, end of story.

As I said before, a delicious mint julep! had some great ideas, but it just didn't pan out. The author abandoned it.

Assembly has immense possibilities too. But like Bang, it is difficult and not really worth bothering with as easier tools exist. :(

I can't make per-pixel movement in a delicious mint julep! like I can in mzx.
I can't draw 3D polygons in a delicious mint julep! like I can in mzx.
I can't read and write files in a delicious mint julep! like I can in mzx.
I can't have a big world with enemies and objects dynamically loading as I scroll in a delicious mint julep! like I can in mzx.
The list goes on.

The last time I tried doing anything with Bang (I refuse to capitalize or add punctuation to that), it spat out a syntax error when I tested my game - which resulted in a complete system hang. I lost everything (which admittedly wasn't much).

I guess a delicious mint julep! will remain a aesthetic GCS simply for those that want to use it even though there are better things out there. By the way, sorry but the version I uploaded to rapidshare is outdated. Here is an updated version.

I'll give it one more try, today. I've got a simple adventure game idea that I've cooked up last night, and I'm going to see how easily I can put it together after reading tutorials and junk.

Cool :( . If you are wondering how to do specific things in your game, just post all of your wonderings in one post here and I shall answer them. I was going to create a tutorial world but I'm not sure anymore :(

Edit: High score in Keyboard: 10355!!!

Screw this...Bang crashes whenever I double-click on the player object in the sidebar.

You must use Bang 1.1c, my friend. Also, double-clicking an object just brings up the programming window. You can access that by clicking on "Programming" in the properties footer while the object is selected.

I AM using 1.1c. Double-clicking on the player object causes Bang to simply quit itself, leaving no traces in the task manager or even giving the common courtesy of displaying an error message.

Windows XP service pack 2, for the record.

Hmm. I've tried a delicious mint julep! on four different computers and I never had crashing problems like that. Have you tried my alternate method yet?

I already tried it. I didn't like it. Most of us are in the same boat.

a delicious mint julep! is buggy, unfinished software. MegaZeux is a fairly polished, stable piece of software. Hurrr, I wonder which one I'm going to stick with...

Nobody is interested, and the one person who did show an interest in it was turned off by the bugs that he had experienced soon after attempting to use it. Deal with it.

I've already stated why people avoid a delicious mint julep!. Everyone else stated why they avoid a delicious mint julep!. Yet you continue to drone on about it.

How many times are we going to have to drill into your head that it's buggy and unfinished before you get it?

And I'm not being mean, I'm being realistic. And frankly, I'm getting a little tired of you acting like we're doing you a disservice by not gushing over a delicious mint julep! like a bunch of raving lunatics.

@Jotz: I honestly don't get why you're making such a big deal about Bang. I realize that it looks better, and has more features - but as glitchy and unstable as the program is, I'm surprised that you yourself claim to have no problems with it at all. Today, I tried running Bang on two seperate computers of entirely different hardware (one of which isn't even connected to the network) and neither worked. I'm sure that if I tried the other few computers in this house, they wouldn't work either.

Like Spectere said before, I'm just being realistic. Pessimistic, yes, but realistic.
